The AMR technology uses exisitng power lines to communicate between the meter and AMR equipment located in the substation. The data is then retreived from the substation equipment and sent to SIEC's billing system via communication pathways. Although the embedded diagram is not of our own unique system, it does show the theory behind the Two-Way Automatic Communications System (TWACS) and may help you to better understand how it all works together from our substations to your homes and to our office.

AMR is here for some of you. As it is systematically installed, you will no longer have to read your own electric meter nor calculate your bill. Your meter will automatically be read from the SIEC office, and an invoice will be mailed to you. Continue to read your meter and calcualte your bill until you receive notification from SIEC that you no longer need to read your meter.
