2012 Electric Rate Increase
For the first time since 2009, SIEC must increase its electric rates by an average of 9.22 percent. The rate increase goes into effect for members' usage in February, and will be seen on bills due in March. (1) "Customer Charge" terminology has been changed to read "Facility Charge"
(2) New line item called an Environmental/Regulatory Compliance Charge

| Youth to Washington |
Attention High School Juniors!Each year, SIEC invites one high school junior from each of the following schools: Anna-Jonesboro, Cairo, Century, Cobden, Dongola, Egyptian, Goreville, Joppa, Massac, Meridian, Shawnee and Vienna, to Youth Day in Springfield (usually in April). This event is sponsored by SIEC and the Association of Illinois Electric Cooperatives. Of the 12 students representing SIEC in April, two will be selected to go on an all-expense paid tour of Washington, D.C. in June. Youth to Springfield (April 6, 2011): The day’s activities in Springfield include touring the state capitol complex and the new Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum. Students will also have the opportunity to visit with legislators. Youth to Washington (June 10-17, 2011): The two local winners join some 50 other Illinois students, sponsored by Illinois cooperatives, and spend a week in Washington, D.C. visiting attractions such as the White House, U.S. Capitol, Smithsonian Institution, Arlington National Cemetery, Lincoln Memorial and many other national monuments and places of interest. * Steven Myers of Alto Pass and Brianna Wooten of Grand Chain are chosen as the 2010 winners of Youth to Washington Tour!
